First met Ed in 1972; Hope Hall, Exeter Uni. We all spent many a night studying hard in the Victoria! He won Hilary’s heart almost from the start, and their future together was cemented by the end of the first year. Even back then, at the ripe old age of 18, he was one of the most gentle, kind, considerate souls I ever knew. Can’t conjure a picture of him where he’s not smiling. Just a genuine, lovely man.
